In its Annual Gathering this year on 8 Sept 2018, AWWA Family Service Centre recognised the achievements of our clients – nine individual recipients and four family recipients in four different award categories – Family Builder Award for Child, Youth, Adult and Family. These awards serves to celebrate not just the progress and accomplishments, but the tenacity and perseverance of families who has overcame challenges together.

Attended by 75 families and 38 volunteers (students, corporate and individuals), Dr Yaacob Ibrahim, Member of Parliament, Jalan Besar GRC and Grassroots Adviser to Kolam Ayer Grassroots Organisations graced the event as the Guest-of-Honour.

Families today are becoming more dynamic. This year’s theme focuses on the importance of communication within family so as to improve relationships amongst family members. Often, families do not get the time or the opportunity to come together as we go about our busy lives at work or in school. Essentially, it is important for family to put aside quality ‘family time’ to cultivate an open and honest communication in building trust and bond with one another.

AWWA Annual Gathering has up-kept the tradition of our clients and AWWA Ambassadors performing at this annual family affair where our very talented clients including AWWA Ambassadors and children from the Nurture programme performed a variety of songs, dance and Community Drumming. This truly embodies the spirit of the community coming together – by families, for families.
