ACTIVE AGEING CENTRE

Established in 1997, AWWA Active Ageing Centre (AAC), previously known as AWWA Senior Activity Centre, serves as an anchor in the community to empower seniors to age in place.

The centre works closely with the AWWA Community of Care (Ang Mo Kio) to improve the health and well-being of the community by establishing a network of service providers and developing structured protocols for seamless care transitions. Seniors are proactively outreached and profiled, and are connected with services based on their individualised health and social needs.

   Key ABC suite of services:

  • Active ageing programmes such as physical exercises, game sessions, birthdays and festive celebrations, karaoke sessions, and handicraft interest groups.
  • Befriending and buddying services.
  • Information and referral to Care services.

   Objectives:

  • Provide a drop-in recreational space to enable seniors to adopt an active lifestyle and pre-empt social isolation.
  • Provide opportunities for seniors to interact with members of the community.
