RBS Corporate Volunteerism and Philanthropy Plants Its Mark At AWWA

As part of Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS)’s effort to serve the local community, they promote volunteerism and encourage philanthropy among staff.

To encourage employee giving, RBS makes donation hassle-free for staff with auto payroll deduction and matches it dollar-for-dollar. The HR department shares with every new employee the Bank’s social responsibility passion and work. It helps employees to see their employer beyond a profit earning business and how their work contributes to a building a better community for the less privileged.

Led by a committed Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) team headed by HR, RBS has since contributed 90 staff volunteer hours through 21 volunteering activities since 2011. The staff across different departments gathered to work with various group of AWWA clients. Some showed their love by cooking a meal for the seniors at the community home, and staff who loves horticulture supported AWWA with the designing and re-building of our garden for students with special needs and taught them accountability through taking care of plants. Some of the staff has also signed up as mentors to our youth. They walked alongside with their mentees, guiding them to find their passion, encourage them to persevere to acquire skills, prepare for job interview so that they may learn to make wise choices and are empowered to become independent and responsible individuals.

Does RBS’s story inspire you as an employer to make your business more meaningful?
