Connecting with nature to heal the soul

Gardening can improve one’s mental wellbeing. In recent years, local community hospitals have included gardening activities in patients’ rehabilitation plans which has a therapeutic effect on patients with dementia and stroke, and even children with autism. The AWWA Senior Community Home has sought to support seniors in being independent and living well through their golden years as contributing members within an inclusive society. Angelyn Puspa-Nathan, Social Work Associate, AWWA shared about the activities conducted for seniors in the community garden, and how these seniors have benefitted from the activities. Mr He Guan Long, resident at the AWWA Senior Community Home shed light on his contribution to the community garden and how he has benefitted from the activities.
