When Mr Hu Zhong Hua’s furniture business was affected by the pandemic, he decided to sell his HDB flat and invest in the factory instead. He and his wide then moved into a temporary residence arranged by AWWA, who provided basic necessities and called an ambulance for him when he had to be admitted to the hospital for treatment due to a fall.
The AWWA Family Service Centre (FSC) is a community-based agency that assists and supports individuals and families in need. Ms Hui Xia See Toh, Director of Family Services, AWWA empathises with families who struggle when applying for HDB flats as it can be a frustrating and exhausting experience. A graduation ceremony is arranged for families who have successfully reached their housing goals, and they encourage families who are still living in the centre.
