AWWA to me is…“family”.
Huixia is AWWA’s Director of Family Services, reporting to CEO Karthik. Huixia joined AWWA in June 2005 and, in her most current position, leads the teams at AWWA’s first-ever programme, Family Service Centre, and its two Transitional Shelters.
Huixia’s unwavering passion for connecting with individuals, families, and communities has spanned nearly two decades, and she finds satisfaction in seeing them rise above their challenges. Today, AWWA’s Family Services support over 600 family units with complex social issues annually and has helped over 200 family units attain stable housing since 2018.
Understanding the importance of contributing to initiatives beyond AWWA, Huixia has been a member/participant of the People’s Association Youth Executive Committee, the Social Service Leaders Exchange Programme, the Singapore Association of Social Workers, and the National Heart Centre Medifund Committee. She is currently a member of the Singapore Association of Social Workers’ Housing Support Network Group.
Huixia holds a Master of Education (Counselling), a Bachelor of Arts (Social Work), and a Diploma in Clinical Supervision. She was also nominated to be a part of the esteemed NCSS 40-under–40 programme in 2019.
