Transitional Shelter

Since 2018, our Transitional Shelter (TS) programme has provided temporary shelter to displaced families who have exhausted all housing options, journeying with them to rebuild stability. In 2022, we expanded to a second shelter. Beginning in April 2025, AWWA Transitional Shelter further extended our support to include displaced individuals.

Key activities include:

Casework and Counselling
  • Social workers engage residents as active partners from admission, co-creating plans for long-term housing, financial stability, and children’s education.
  • Together, we identify existing strengths and develop strategies to address challenges, empowering residents to lead their own progress.
Groupwork and Programmes
  • We facilitate supportive groups where individuals facing similar circumstances can share experiences, learn coping skills, and building meaningful connections with others on similar journeys.
Post-discharge Support
  • For six months after leaving the shelter, we continue working alongside residents, refining transition plans and connecting them to local services.
  • This extended partnership helps reinforce progress and ensures ongoing access to support systems.

If you are seeking temporary shelter for your family, please visit your nearest Family Service Centre (FSC) for a referral.

The FSC may download the application form and submit the referral through Case Connect.
