Workshop on Preventing and Managing Challenging Behaviour of Children with Autism

Regularly organised talks, workshops and public education programmes pertaining to special needs issues are also part of the AWWA Resource Centre portfolio. One very well-received workshop organised in July 2013 was “Preventing and Managing Challenging Behaviour of Children with Autism”.

Participants were shown how to identify the underlying causes and triggers that escalate challenging behaviour and taught how to implement prevention strategies. The presenter was Ms Genevieve Chua, an educational psychologist and director of Children’s Partnership Psychological Services, who has much experience in assessing and working with children with developmental needs and learning difficulties. 85 participants, including parents, mainstream and special school teachers attended.
