“My work in AWWA Integrated Home and Day Care Centre is very interesting as each and every client has varied life stories. Our clients’ age can range from 50+ years old to 100 years old. Seeing the clients with vast difference in age group mingling in the centre is a form of motivation to me that despite their health issues, all of them want to continue to age in place at home.
We have 2 centenarians and a few clients in their nineties in our centre. I was especially inspired by the life story of a 100 year old client. He has been living alone at home for the past few decades since his retirement. He is a positive person and participates actively in some of the centre’s activities. My role is to support him in ageing at home, through various interventions such as financial assistance and referring him for home modification services so that his home is safe for him to live independently.
It is seeing the energy and determination of these clients that make me look forward to my work.”
