People Giving To People

AWWA is a long established institution in Singapore. For 45 years, we have provided essential human services and programmes to thousands of people each year. But what AWWA’s work actually achieves goes far beyond its daily services – it’s about helping to change people’s lives forever – one person at a time. And this is possible through the outpouring of volunteer support from people like you.

In 2014, more than 9,000 volunteers gave over 14,000 hours of their time through events and activities. Throughout the past four decades, AWWA has been fortunate to receive — from caring people in our communities — generous offers to volunteer their time and services. Becoming an AWWA volunteer can be a rewarding way to reach out to people in our communities. AWWA volunteers do invaluable work that makes a real difference in people’s lives and the broader communities where they live.

Volunteers are the lifeblood of AWWA. They contribute time, energy and expertise that help fulfil our mission. Our amazing volunteers make it possible for us to provide a high level of service and reach out effectively to our communities.

If you speak to people who already volunteer, they will tell you they do it because they love it. There are many ways that you can help support AWWA’s work and show your support for People Giving To People.

This is what our volunteers say:

  • “I feel like volunteering makes my community a better place to live.”
  • “You can work for an organisation and mission you believe in.”
  • “Having a positive impact on others feels great!”
  • “I’m meeting new people and developing new leadership skills.”
  • “Family volunteering lets me spend time with people I love while helping others.”
  • “Volunteering is fun!”

All volunteers must be at least 16 years old. Persons whose skills and interests are successfully matched with our needs will be invited for an initial interview and an orientation session. The Orientation provides volunteers with the basic skills and information for volunteering at AWWA. Interested volunteers may wish check out our Volunteer Orientation Handbook.

Becoming an AWWA volunteer has never been easier and you can start volunteering today. We have a variety of volunteer opportunities for people like you. We’ve provided a list of our volunteer opportunities for individuals below.
