AWWA School Open House

Every child has the ability to learn and excel… At AWWA we believe in celebrating and developing the abilities of each child to their full potential.

Join us at the AWWA School Open House on Wednesday, 23 May 2018, to learn more about what we offer to enable your child to develop according to his/ her interests. Visit the Sensory Playground, Hydropool, and InfoCom Lab catered specially to encourage and promote learning for children with special needs.

“Education” is integral to AWWA’s heritage, and providing education to children was one of the first services offered by AWWA in its early days in the 1970’s; over the years, this has evolved to providing quality education to children with special needs. AWWA School was established in 1979 catering to children (aged 7-18 years) with multiple disabilities and autism.

At AWWA School, we focus on providing holistic education, in both the academic and non-academic arena, allowing students to develop their strengths. The curriculum consists of individualised learning plans to cater to each student’s needs, helping them to develop socially appropriate behaviours, and learn life skills and techniques to reach maximum self-reliance and independence to go about their activities of daily living.

In preparing students for post school options, the curriculum includes vocational training where selected students are exposed to authentic work environments to allow an easier transition from school to work.
