Barclays Ongoing Support of Youth Programmes

Barclays has been sponsoring the youth programme under AWWA Family Service Centre (FSC) since 2012. The scope of the sponsorship includes workshops on financial management in which youths learnt and practised budgeting, prudent spending and savings. On top of funding, Barclays also conducted career preparation workshops and youth-mentoring programmes as well as organised activities for our children and youth with special needs. To motivate both our clients and the Barclays volunteers, the group CEO, Mr Anthony Jenkins, made time to visit AWWA FSC to interact with the youths and volunteers last June when he was in Singapore. Over 350 Barclays volunteers have given their time and effort to volunteer in the last 3 years.

“With support readily available and skills acquired at AWWA, I am currently involved in the process of starting up a small scale business. I hope I might be able to help others from a disadvantaged background. I have also enrolled myself into part-time diploma courses as well as short weekend classes to constantly upgrade myself. I still remember the words from my mentor at Barclays,” says Muhammad Farhan Bin Mohamad Hamdi, 24-year-old programme participant.

Since 2012, Barclays has generously donated more than $100,000 annually to our youth programs at AWWA FSC .
