AWWA Health & Senior Care 7th Silver Sports Day, themed “Move to be Happy”, was held on 17 June 2016 at ITE College Central. Our guest of honour Dr Koh Poh Koon, Minister of State for Ministry of National Development & Ministry of Trade and Industry and Member of Parliament for Ang Mo Kio GRC and distinguished guests Mr Lionel Chng, Managing Director, Hewlett-Packard Inc, Singapore, Mr Chong Leong Fatt, Deputy Principal (Development) ITE College Central, Mr Suresh Natarajan, Deputy Principal (Academic) ITE College Central, and AWWA Chief Executive Officer, Mr Tim Oei, graced the event. Excitement filled the hall of ITE College Central when the 400 seniors started to arrive in their respective groups. It was heart-warming to see our seniors’ enthusiasm and watching them have fun with the games.
There were three new sport stations this year – Velcro ball dart, hoop shooting and human foosball to the existing five stations. We could see the competitive sides of our seniors and how they were in it to win it regardless of their age or physical disabilities.
We hope that this would continue to encourage our seniors to engage in regular exercise and achieve not only good health but the happiness that comes along with it.
