AWWA Event: AWWA School turns 38!

On 10 March 2017, the whole of AWWA school came together to celebrate its 38th birthday.  With the theme – Different abilities, One AWWA, the school commemorated the diversities of the students where the teachers, parents, caregivers came together to create an integrated learning event for children with special needs or different developmental abilities.

The key highlight this year was the breaking of the Singapore Book of Records for the Largest Collage made of Hand-painted Tote Bags. This was made possible by the collective and collaborative efforts of about 270 students, 150 teachers and staff, our guest-of-honour, Mrs Rosana Quek, Deputy Chairperson, AWWA Board of Directors, and invited guests. They created the largest collage measuring 7.6m by 5.5m and using 389 tote bags!

Students from AWWA School were treated to carnival activities which were organised and managed by Temasek Polytechnic. Volunteers from the various corporations – Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Herbert Smith Freehills, ProLegis and UBS came down to help facilitate and assist our students in the activities and games.

A heart-warming video montage of staff and students with well wishes for AWWA School was played in the school hall.  Four AWWA School students also performed an up-tempo Korean pop dance performance which got the whole school moving and cheering.

It was a celebratory day indeed. Once again, here’s wishing AWWA School a Happy 38th Birthday!
