On 3 August to 5 August, the second season of Inclusive Sports Festival (ISF) took place at the Sports Hub with President Halimah Yacob as the Guest-of-Honour. Ms Sim Ann, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Communications and Information & Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth was also present to grace the event.

ISF aims to introduce different sports to persons with disabilities and to educate the public about para sports. Youths from AWWA CIS, and students from AWWA School and AWWA Early Intervention Centres visited the festival with their families to participate and learn more about various sports. At AWWA, we believe in celebrating the abilities of our clients and sports can be a good stepping stone in building an inclusive culture.

On 4 Aug 2018, the OCBC Glowing Years Programme was officially launched at AWWA Dementia Day Care Centre (DDCC) at Ang Mo Kio. This programme combines fun exercise and reward system to motivate seniors to participate in activities that aim to slow down the deterioration of dementia.

We welcomed Dr Koh Poh Koon, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Trade and Industry, and Member of Parliament of Ang Mo Kio Group Representation Constituency, who graced the launch! On top of the fun-filled carnival games and centre activities, our DDCC seniors could also redeem a photo, massage or manicure with the points they had previously accumulated from participating in centre activities!

On 6 Oct 2018, AWWA held its annual fundraiser – the hilarious, hair-raising and heart-warming musical “Peter and the Starcatcher”, a production by Pangdemonium, at the Drama Centre Theatre. Over $400,000 was raised to support over 10,000 clients across the AWWA programmes and services!

Our clients, staff and friends of AWWA came down to join us for the show.

It was definitely a night of good laugh for the whole family!

We would like to say a big thank you to all who supported AWWA and made this fundraiser a success!
