ABOUT AWWA

Our Story
Our journey began in 1970 with the will of Mrs Shakuntala Bhatia. Under the banner of the Asian Women’s Welfare Association, Mrs Bhatia and her peers, like Mrs Tambyah and Mrs Kula, identified gaps in the community to help the underserved.
The Association incorporated AWWA Ltd on 7 January 2015, a Singapore company limited by guarantee. In April of the same year, AWWA Ltd took over the operations and activities previously managed by the Association. In 2022, the Association was dissolved, and AWWA continues to address social service gaps as they arise, by being guided by our mission and strategic vision.
Mission
To empower the disadvantaged to maximise their potential to lead dignified and independent lives.

Statement of Inclusion
At AWWA, we embrace neurodiversity, encourage creativity, and express ourselves freely in an inclusive environment that supports meaningful outcomes for all. When we are empowered, we are powerful. Whatever your needs, we just need you to be you.
We make a difference, because we are different.
Inclusion and Representation Charter
We are committed to creating inclusive environments. The views of our clients, their support networks, and our partners, guide our thoughts and actions. By respecting diverse perspectives and expertise, we aspire to contribute to meaningful, relevant, and positive outcomes for all.
