The singing voices of 46 EYC pupils and their parents/caregivers filled the bus with excitement as they embarked on a discovery journey to the Singapore Zoo on 5th March 2010. Accompanied by 22 EYC teaching and professional staff, it was the first time such a field trip to the Zoo was organized in conjunction with AWWA Educational Services’ 31st Anniversary.

The pupils and staff were divided into respective groups and each child was given a designated map and an animal checklist to help them navigate their way around the Zoo. For some pupils and their parents, it was their first time to the Zoo, while others were seasoned visitors. Still, the children were all very eager to meet the animals and some even had an opportunity to be up close and personal with the kangaroos.

The animal show was an eye-catching sight for our children as they watched the performances of the monkeys, snakes and other rainforest animals. After which, the groups proceeded to Kidzworld for lunch and some free and easy time.

It was a splashing good time for those who went to the water play area. The children had lots of fun dipping in the pool with their friends and getting their bodies sprayed by water jets. As for the parents and caregivers, they were content to stay under the shade catching up with each other and enjoying their KFC meals.

As the journey came to an end, everyone was happily exhausted and many fell asleep. It was a quiet ride back to AWWA EYC.
