Yip Pin Xiu Set for London Paralympics 2012 Print E-mail

TMIS client, ‘Be With Me’ Scholar and National Paralympian, Yip Pin Xiu, has qualified for the 2012 London Paralympics after picking up a gold medal in the 50m freestyle at the 2010 IPC Swimming World Championships.   She competed in the 50m freestyle event, and beat Fran Williamson from Britain and Annke Conradi of Germany to take the title. The IPC games are being held from 15-21 August with more than 640 athletes from 53 different countries participating at the event in Eindhoven, the Netherlands.

Outing to the Changi Airport Print E-mail

On 23 December 2009, at 9.30 a.m., 8 clients and 3 siblings were eagerly waiting at Serangoon MRT station to take the train to visit Singapore Changi Airport. They were briefed and guided by the TEACH ME staff along their journey, as the main objective of the outing was to instill confidence and encourage client’s independence in taking public transport.

On 13 November 2009, I attended the amazing race organised by AWWA TEACH ME Services. The meeting point was at Bishan MRT station.  I was very excited as I like travelling on the MRT.

Camp Survivor - Staff Reflection Print E-mail
For most of our youths, it was a camp of many “firsts”. For some, it was their first time staying away from home for 2 nights, for others it was their first time taking a boat ride to Pulau Ubin, and for most, it was their first time attempting the high elements, jetty jump, trekking, pitching tents and outdoor cooking.

I was so excited when I was invited to join Camp Survivor (collaboration of Outward Bound Singapore and AWWA TEACH ME Services) for a 3-day overnight stay at OBS. I was looking forward to this camp, to have the experience of being on my own.
