The Caregivers' Week 2008 begun with a Caregivers' Fair held during the weekend of Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 October from 10am-6pm at the HDB Hub Mall at Toa Payoh.

AWWA Centre for Caregivers welcomed caregivers of children with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) to a talk by an invited speaker, Dr Daniel Fung, on autism and the handling of disruptive bahavior in such children at the June Feature session held on 21 June 2008. Dr Daniel Fung heads the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the Institute of Mental Health (IMH) and is a Senior Consultant Psychiatrist with the Child Guidance Clinic at IMH.

The Asian Women’s Welfare Association Centre for Caregivers (AWWA CFC) is seeking nominations for the Model Caregiver Award and Model Caregiving Family Award. These awards are for the public recognition of an individual and family who have actively demonstrated outstanding commitment and dedication in caregiving. To earn this recognition, this exemplary individual or family must have made a tremendous and meaningful impact in the lives of their care recipients.

Caregivers of persons with disability or seniors confront many challenges on a daily basis. To alleviate the burden on these caregivers and empower them to cope better, the Ministry of Community Development, Youth & Sports (MCYS) has set up the Caregivers Training Grant (CTG). The Grant is administered by the National Council of Social Service (NCSS).
